Upgraded campsite at Mangoky Reserve

The campsite at Mangoky Reserve is now equipped with a small, functional toilet and shower

The small and remote campsite in Mangoky Reserve, ideally located between the river and the pristine forest, finally has got a toilet. It is a simple building with two compartments – one for a dry toilet, the other for a shower, for which you have to bring your own water from the nearby well.  During construction, care was taken to minimise the impact on nature as much as possible

The campsite in the Mangoky Reserve is a real insider tip, located in the middle of a untouched forest area with a high level of biodiversity. It is possible to observe many endemic animals – lemurs, birds and reptiles – as well as to make exciting kayak tours on the unspoilt Mangoky River. The young company Mangoky Reserve Tours is the only organisation that organises tours to this extremely remote area. More information: https://mangokyreserve.com/kayak-tours-2025/

The conservation work at Mangoky Reserve shows good results. The forest is dense and green, and there is no burning or logging within the limits of the reserve

Now, at the end of November, the forest of the Mangoky Reserve is perhaps the most beautiful. The first rain has fallen, and the forest is intensely lush and green. The dry dormancy of many animals has come to an end and the forest is teeming with birds, reptiles and insects. However, it is a difficult time to visit the Mangoky Reserve: The weather is hot and humid, and due to the onset of rain, the few paths are difficult to walk on. A visit during rainy season is something for very special enthusiasts.
