Adventure Tour on the Mangoky River

Published by Klaus-Christian Küspert on

The first kayak tour on the Mangoky River with guests was a success! From 5th of May  to 9th of May, five kayakers from France completed the more than 150 km stretch of the river without any problems.

The trip was carefully and kindly led by our guide Jonathan Randriamanantenasoa, and the participants were thrilled by the fantastic nature and the complete isolation of the area through which the Mangoky River flows. Five days on the fast-flowing, completely unspoiled river amidst ancient baobab forests, with overnight stays on secluded sandbanks under an incredibly intense starry sky, is a unique experience. The fact that you have to forgo some of the comforts of civilization, such as sumptuous food, drinks, and internet, may not always be pleasant, but it’s easily overlooked given the overwhelming natural experience.

Another fresh morning on the Mangoky River

Everything went very well on the trip – the road from Sakaraha to Beroroha was relatively easy to drive, the river flow was just perfect, the weather wasn’t too hot, and, as many times before, our South African Vagabond Kayaks performed excellently. The tour with the French guests concluded with a very special experience: a night spent camping in ab area with Madagascar’s largest baobabs: enormous, towering colossi, more than a thousand years old, that exude a special awe.

The Mangoky Reserve team is looking forward to welcoming the next small group that would like to attempt the adventure of a Mangoky River trip. The tour can be tailored entirely to the guests’ wishes. May and June are the best months for such a trip! It’s still possible for those who decide quickly.
