School construction in Mitahy

The people of the small, very remote village of Mitahy have been the most motivated from the start and and are determined: They need a school for their children! However, the government had “forgotten” Mitahy and not included it on the list of villages that should have a school at some point in the distant future.

Mangoky Reserve spontaneously helped the children and parents in Mitahy by submitting an application to the regional school administration asking for opening a governmental school in the village. The green light has now been given and construction has started.
The local people are already in the process of building the “shell” of the house while Mangoky Reserve has delivered the promised materials: Corrugated iron sheets for the roof, cement as well as doors and windows. Mangoky Reserve will also send a person assisting with the roof construction.

The next challenge will be to get a teacher to Mitahy. Again, Mangoky Reserve can help the local people to write a petition to the state and ask to recruit a teacher for the village.

The children from Mitahy are very much looking forward to their new school. A collaboration that is fun!
